Meet Melinda
I grew up in Tucson, AZ. I was raised in a family who knew about God, though the Bible was really just a coffee table book that collected dust week over week. We never prioritized Church because athletic and academic accomplishments reigned in our home. Consequently, working hard and striving for perfection were engrained in my worldview from an early age. That lifestyle was exhausting and, in order to maintain a perfect image, I figured out how to “get away with” a lot of poor choices and destructive behavior in high school.
I left Tucson to attend Regis University in Denver, CO where I had the privilege of playing volleyball. There, I met my amazing husband, Michael. We got married in 2002, welcomed our two daughters in 2006 and 2009, but made a mess of our marriage during the first 10 years because neither of us knew what it meant to have a personal relationship with Jesus. A friend and Watermark member shared Scripture and Christ’s love with us during our most unbelievably challenging times in marriage. By God’s grace, and only by receiving and declaring Christ as Lord and Savior, we overcame my infidelity, separation, and near divorce. What the enemy meant for evil, God meant for good (Genesis 50:20)!
Within a year of our marriage being restored, the Lord called us to help launch re|engage at our church in Colorado in 2015. We served there for 5 years before following a call from the Lord to get plugged in at Watermark. Michael and I are passionate about sharing hope with other married couples and long for others to experience the thriving nature of a Christ-centered marriage. It is a humbling honor to serve on staff at Watermark!
