Meet Emily

Hey yall!

I grew up in Fayetteville, Georgia, which is a small town south of Atlanta. I am thankful to come from a loving, Christian home. I accepted Christ as my Savior at a very young age. Having grown up in church, I knew all the things to do and to say, which turned into legalism and pride. I had a head knowledge that salvation is found in Christ alone, but I acted as if salvation was works based. I thought that if I followed the rules God would love me more and that is what being a good Christian meant. As I began reading my Bible daily and surrounding myself with believers, God continually reminded me that salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, and in Christ alone. God continues to pursue me daily through his compassionate faithfulness and shows me what it looks like to daily surrender my wants and preferences for that of His character and plan.

I graduated from The University of Georgia (Go Dawgs!) with a degree in Early Childhood Education. I taught 1stgrade in the Atlanta area for a year before the Lord called me to make a big change. I packed up all of my things and moved to Dallas to study at Dallas Theological Seminary. I graduated from DTS in May of 2019.

I became a member of Watermark shortly after moving to Dallas in 2016 and started serving with student ministries and women’s equipping. I have loved being part of community and a church body that encourages, admonishes, and challenges me to be more like Christ every day.

Fun Fact about me: I am a die-hard fan of the Georgia Bulldogs and the Atlanta Braves. Outside of cheering on my favorite teams, I love to read, bake, and try new restaurants. I’m so thankful for my new home in Dallas. I love meeting new people, especially if it includes a good cup of coffee.
